Bonn, September 2025 – How do you combine 90 years of experience, cutting-edge machine technology, and the vision of a circular plastics economy? Kautex Maschinenbau answers this question at K 2025 with a tangible product: a 5-liter jerrycan, produced live on the new KEB20 GREEN and handed directly to visitors.
“We wanted to make a statement – not a sample, but a real product. The jerrycan shows what happens when design, simulation, tooling, material expertise, and production come together seamlessly,” says Guido Langenkamp, Product Portfolio Manager at Kautex Maschinenbau.
More than a container – a demonstration of possibilities.
Weighing just 240 grams with a brimful volume of 5.3 liters and an average wall thickness of 1.24 mm, the jerrycan carries a special engraving to mark Kautex’s 90th anniversary. The 3-layer ReCo structure is used to produce articles enabling the usage of PIR/PCR. The whole container is made with SABIC® HDPE B5429, a high-performance polyethylene with excellent stress-crack resistance and durability. Precision tooling is provided by HECO, ensuring exact cavity balance and cooling efficiency.
A digital product passport included
Each jerrycan is laser-marked by Videojet Technologies with a high-resolution QR code containing the gateway to the digital product passport with serial and batch information. R-Cycle provides the technical backbone enabling the usage of digital product passports throughout the whole product lifecycle – making the jerrycan not only functional, but also a real use case for what is possible regarding sustainability and traceability already today.
Live at the booth (Hall 14 / Booth A16/A18):
- KEB20 GREEN in operation: Fully electric, compact, efficient
- Videojet Technologies laser marking: Serial numbers & batch data in real time
- HECO tooling & CAD data: Precision on display
- Material partner SABIC: High-performance resin for industrial use
“The 5-liter jerrycan embodies our motto ‘Engineered Around You’ – it is the outcome of our complete development ecosystem. It demonstrates not just what our machines can achieve, but also how we, together with partners, are paving the way to a circular plastics economy,” adds Eike Wedell, CEO of Kautex Maschinenbau.
